Caskets
These caskets were found at the Uda
Aludeniya Rajamaha Viharaya (Gampola period 1341-1351 A.D.) during
restoration of the dagoba.
Dating back to when King Bhuvaneka
Bahu IV was in power, the discoveries are unique and none like them
are to be found anywhere in the country.
The casket or chaitya casing is of
metal while all Buddha images are of gold. All together 276 items
were discovered.
