Harvesting paddy is a back-breaking
job. there are many local folk dances that centre around the paddy
harvest. Traditionally the women cut the sheaves and the men bundle
them and carry them away.

Traditionally the mid-day meal or
'ambula' was brought in by the farmer's wife and children in wicker
baskets. Today most farmers opt for plastic buckets.
Chillie harvest time - red chillies
are dried in the sun.
